In Norway, the quiet days between Christmas and New Year are known as romjul – a time intentionally left unstructured, for rest and recovery rather than resolution.
That idea has stayed with me.
Because these in-between days can feel strangely discombobulating. The usual rhythms disappear, the year hasn’t quite ended, and the pressure of “what’s next” starts creeping in early. For many of us, it’s when tiredness surfaces and the nervous system finally realises how much it’s been holding.
At Bright Souls, we don’t believe this space needs optimising. It doesn’t need reinvention. It needs permission. Permission to land.
Choosing softness instead of solutions
This season, I’ve been gravitating towards practices that don’t promise transformation, just gentleness.
One recent discovery was Mind Oasis, a space offering treatments designed to support both mind and body through warmth, breath, light and stillness. It didn’t fix everything and that feels important to say – but it offered something genuinely supportive: a pause, a softening, a reminder of what rest can feel like in the body.
Sometimes, especially in ‘romjul’, that’s enough.
A place to come and feel a little better
Bright Souls is continuing to evolve as a place to land, especially during moments like this.
A place to:
- make sense of modern wellness without overwhelm
- discover what actually works (and what’s doable)
- find people, practices and tools that feel supportive in real life
Our newly live Bright Edit on the SHOP page brings together the rituals and tools we’re genuinely using this season – quiet, grounding things we return to when energy feels low.
And in the new year, we’ll also be gently opening our Practitioners space – a curated way to connect with wellness practitioners we truly trust and recommend. If you’d like to know more, you’re always welcome to get in touch.

A small grounding practice for the in-between days
If things feel a little scattered right now, try this:
Place one hand on your chest and one on your belly.
Inhale slowly through the nose for a count of four.
Exhale through the mouth for a count of six.
Repeat three times.
No fixing. No intention-setting.
Just letting your system know it’s safe to slow down.
Affirmation:
I don’t need to rush this moment. I am allowed to arrive gently.

Looking ahead
There’s no need to leap into the new year.
We’ll meet 2026 with calm curiosity, grounded energy and a continued commitment to sharing wellness that feels supportive, thoughtful and human.
We’ll connect again in the new year 🤍
